GOHSEP DAILY OPERATIONAL REPORT
16 December 2011
As of: 1045 Hours
STATE EOC ACTIVATION LEVEL: Level 4 (Normal operations)
1. STATE WIDE EVENTS:
Due to heavy rains to the north of Louisiana in the Ohio River Valley, some locations in Louisiana along the Mississippi River are experiencing a rise in river stage. While current forecasts do not show a rise into flood stage, any continued rainfall to our north, combined with any winter snowfall and the resulting melting and runoff, could cause a potential for flooding in Louisiana by this spring.
Locations that are currently projected to reach flood stage or are in flood stage are listed below under paragraph 2, LOUISIANA WEATHER.
GOHSEP Operations, in coordination with National Weather Service, will continue to monitor this situation and report as needed.

Current Stage: 4.4 feet (Minor Flood Stage)

The river is projected to crest at about 4.5 feet by 24 December then begin falling
POTENTIAL IMPACT: At 4-5 feet, water may move up the bank and across access roads below the city dock. Floodwall gates should be closed by the 5 foot stage to protect against higher stages.
